MEMENTO MORI
Hope Ezcurra's artistic fascination with entropy traces back to living through hurricane Hurricane Andrew as a small child, a huge and powerful category five hurricane that hit Miami in 1992.
It devastated the city and the haunting beauty that the hurricane left in it's path both evoked a sense of amazement and terror.
The artwork speaks to the of beauty of life and the fragility of nature, examining the terminal elegance present in macabre imagery due to its universality; entropy and death is both what links all life together and tears it apart.
